I saw Garden State in a sneak preview at UCLA over a month ago. The film itself was great, but the Q&A with writer/director/star Zach Braff was even better. That guy is as funny in person as he is on Scrubs.
I loved Garden State, so it's no surprise i went to see it again on opening night, this time with Sam, who hadn't seen it yet cuz she got rejected at the door at sneak preview.
I think she loved it even more than i did. Maybe it's cuz she's right smack dab in the middle of that post-college funk and i'm still dorking around in grad school. Also, i'm not as big of a sucker for romantic comedies. Still, I love the film cuz of the witty dialogue, crazy yet real characters, and the often surreal situations. I'm also VERY impressed that a guy my age managed to write, direct, AND star in a film on his break from a hit sitcom. It's one of those films that both inspires me to create something of my own and yet shames me for wasting so much time procrastinating. I feel like i've got so many good ideas that i just never follow thru with.
EDIT (Film Diary entry - 12/28/04):
