Remember: this is only a dream...
I'm pulling a black car into a parking space in an underground garage. It's "my car" but not the car I have in my waking life. I turn off the car, get out, and walk around to the back to get something (I dunno what) out of the trunk.
Just as I turn the key in the trunk, I bump something on the ground with my foot. I look down and there are two feet sticking up from underneath the car.
"Oh fuck!" I shout as I stumble back away from the car.
I can see that a man is lying on his back under the car.
"Get the fuck away from my car!" I shout.
The man lies motionless.
From behind another car parked nearby, I crouch down and look under my car. I can see that the man's arms and legs are on the ground, but his head and torso are pressed up against the bottom of the car.
The man still lies motionless.
"Hey man, are you OK?"
As I approach my car, I notice streaks of something wet by the man's feet. It isn't until I'm standing over his feet at the trunk of my car, right where I was when I first noticed the man under the car, that I realize the wet streaks are blood. I turn away from the feet and notice that the streaks extend all the way around the corner, tracing the path that took as I drove through the garage.
I break into a run as I follow back along the trail of blood.
I didn't know, I tell myself. It must've been an accident.
I run faster and faster, desperately trying to find where the trail ends so that I can figure out when and where the accident happened, but the trail keeps going all the way to the entrance of the underground garage and out onto the dark empty street.
I stop in the middle of the street and gasp aloud when I see that the trail of blood leads as far as I can see down the seemingly endless street.
"I didn't know," I tell myself again, and I run back into the garage along the bloody trail.
"He might still be alive," I say aloud.
Are you fucking kidding?! a voice scoffs. You dragged his carcass for miles, scraping the life out of him. There's no way he's still alive! You killed him.
"I didn't know! I didn't know, I didn't know, I didn't know..."
I keep running and running, and as I round the final corner, I slip in the blood and slide face-first towards my car. When come to a stop and look up, there's a giant pool of blood underneath my car, but the body is gone.
Then I woke up.
